Divertissement für Laïd Naid

I believe in the possibility of movement without connotation — movement that does not immediately refer to a style, a character, or an intention.

Divertissement für Laïd Naïd focuses on the dancers’ bodies and their capacity to generate movement from within. Created through a very short process, the work began with a limited set of ingredients: a few steps and ideas, the title, the music, some images, and a great deal of trust in the dancers.

Rather than imposing choreography, the process invited the dancers to take initiative and transform the material themselves. The aim was to move beyond the appearance of “learned movement” — allowing something more immediate, physical and personal to emerge through their bodies.
